About the events

HSBC has a series of events lined up that you won’t want to miss. 

Designed to prep students for the world of work, they will be covering important topics such as personal branding and interview techniques plus others.

The one hour Zoom events are free to attend and open to everyone. They take place every Wednesday for 4 weeks, starting July 5th

  • Financial Wellbeing: Tracking and Managing Your Spend – 5th July, 3:00 – 4:00 PM

Ever wondered how you could track and manage your spending more effectively?

Harrison Green, a Financial Education Consultant at HSBC UK will discuss how to manage your spending and help ensure you don’t get caught out by unexpected bills. He’ll also explain how to make sure that you’re getting value for money when you do spend.

  • Commercial Awareness –12th July, 1:00 – 2:00 PM

Commercial awareness is one of the key skills required to ensure job search success and a successful transition from education to the workplace. Whether you want to start your own business or work for someone else, commercial awareness is a key. It will help you to understand how the major players in your chosen market are performing, ensure you can stay ahead of current and future trends and be aware of how your role may affect business performance. This session will enable you to get to grips with commercial awareness on a small and large scale and provide you with useful tips to begin building this essential skill.

  • Personal Branding – 19th July, 1:00 – 2:00 PM

We all have a personal brand, but how you leverage and use it is what can set you apart. In a competitive employment market, your personal brand is one of the strongest assets you have to stand out to employers. This workshop will enable you to understand what a personal brand is, why it’s important to consider your own brand and practical tips to enable you to maximise it.

  • Interview Techniques in the Digital Age – 26th July, 1:00 – 2:00 PM

Interviewing can be a nerve wrecking experience and preparation is key. But do you know what to expect? This session will give you an insight into different interview types, explain the difference between competency-based and strengths-based questions and provide guidance on how to successfully complete various types of online assessment.

Our graduate recruiters will also share their top hints and tips to help you prepare for the virtual selection process for our student and graduate programmes. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the process.
